At some point this year, however, I just knew without doubt that there were two words that I wanted inked on my skin… and I wanted those words to be a testament to my God and Saviour, to the One in whom I place my trust and faith.
I’ve been a follower of Jesus since my early twenties.
I believe “…there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” [Acts 4:12]
Solo Christo’s meaning is not a fluffy “Jesus is the only way to Heaven”. It is referring to the greatest act of love and sacrifice known to all mankind, throughout all of history. God’s absolute love for me [and you] was shown through Christ’s death by crucifixion, His descent into hell – and ultimately through His Resurrection from death.
God is love, He is perfect, and because He is perfect evil cannot be in His presence. We do bad things – be those thoughts, words or actions – and God will hold us accountable for those actions. But our God is a loving God, so to save us from our separation from Him, He sent someone to take the punishment for those bad things we do. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die in our place.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” [John 3:16]
So the decision is ours to make. Either we accept and acknowledge that sacrifice, and ask for God’s forgiveness – or we ignore it and do nothing.
I’ve made my decision.
